Port Elizabeth – Some of the world’s biggest experts are in Port Elizabeth this week for the seventh international conference of Information Technology for Environmental Engineering (ITEE 2015).
The conference is being hosted this year for the first time outside of Europe and features participants from Germany, Ghana and Spain.
“We decided to hold the conference here in South Africa as it is the largest port of Africa,” explained Prof. Dr.-ing Jorge Marx-Gomez from the University of Oldenburg in Germany. Marx-Gomez serves as co-organiser of the two-day conference together with Dr. Brenda Scholtz. “Additionally, our relationship with NMMU is strong and their team here is motivated and knowledgeable. Here we can share research and ideas,” said Scholtz.
“Therefore stakeholders from relevant companies are also participating in the conference,” said Scholtz. “I have a passion for networking between academics and stakeholders in business. All businesses must report on their environmental impact, and the research discussed at this conference can assist with this”
Outside of the software for information and reporting, speakers will also discuss methods and technologies that can assist with energy savings.
